Nonlocal Elasticity for Nanostructures: A Review of Recent Achievements

Recent developments in modeling and analysis of nanostructures are illustrated discussed this paper. Starting with the early theories nonlocal elastic continua, a thorough investigation continuum nano-mechanics is provided. Two-phase local/nonlocal models shown as possible to recover consistency strain-driven purely integral theory, provided that mixture parameter not vanishing. Ground-breaking methodologies based on well-posed stress-driven formulation commented upon effective strategies capture scale-dependent mechanical behaviors. Static dynamic problems investigated, ranging from higher-order curved nanobeams nanoplates. Geometrically nonlinear small-scale inflected structures undergoing large configuration changes addressed framework elasticity. Nonlocal for structural assemblages well laying nanofoundations along benchmark applicative examples.
